Try this: in guest switch to virtual terminal (Ctrl-Alf-F1 or Ctrl-Alf-F2) and run sudo ptiagent-cmd --install && sudo reboot.
I have the exact same problem - I ran the ptiagent-cmd --install command and rebooted yet I still see the same black screen with /dev/sda1: clean, xxxx/yyyy files, aaaa/bbbb blocks -- any ideas? TIA Rich

> Sorry - my version of Parallels is 10.4.0 (29337) on OS X Sierra and Ubuntu was upgraded to 16.04 LTS Parallels Desktop 10 officially supports Ubuntu up to version 14.04. Unofficially may run it up to 15.04. But Ubuntu starting from 15.10 will not work there.
