TotalWar Warhammer Crashing during launch on parallels 12 and macOS sierra

Discussion in 'General Questions' started by Parallels User, Jan 29, 2017.

  1. every time I turn on the game, I get the screen at the beginning with various logos and copyright info, then I get error message "Total War: Warhammer Has Stopped Working" and the game crashes.

i did the below steps and still the game is crashing right after i launch it

    1. RAM memory: 3 GB minimum
    2. Go to Configure > Hardware > Graphics (512 MB minimum) > Additional Settings and set 3D acceleration to DirectX 10 and enable Vertical Synchronization.
Start Windows and launch the game. Let us know if it helps.

    Notes:
    (1) i am on MacosSierra
    (2) parallels version is 12
    (3) i am using the steam platform on the windows 10 guest OS
    (4) Windows 10 latest version which has in it DirectX 12
    (5) i configured my VM to be 3D accelerated Directx10 + vertical sync

FYI if i disable 3D acceleration then the game runs at a very very low performance

game system requirements can be found in the game's steam page

Hi AhmedH1, thanks for reaching out! We checked the system requirements for "Total war Warhammer", it needs DirectX 11 support. With Parallels Desktop, you can run games and applications that require video cards with DirectX or OpenGL support in your virtual machines. The DirectX10.1 and OpenGL2.1 support can be enabled for Windows-based virtual machines with Parallels Tools installed. Please stay tuned and check out this article while our developers are working on it.
