I recently upgraded my guest MacOS VM from Sierra to High Sierra. I had the MacOS VM back itself up via Time Machine to the host MacOS (running High Sierra). The host has a folder configured as a Time Machine backup destination. When the guest was Sierra, that worked. When I upgraded to High Sierra, it now enters an infinite backup loop. During the backup, the number which says how much data is to be backed up keeps increasing until it uses up all the destination hard drive space!! So, my VM's hard drive size is only 35G but after a long time, I see this one backup operation has just hit 500G and is now out of space.
I have excluded everything I can find which is not the VM's hard drive.

Is this a know issue with a High Sierra guest? Is there a problem with backing up APFS from a guest? Any suggestions?
