I have an older VM running Debian Squeeze. If I uninstall the Parallels Tools from Parallels Desktop 12, the Debian install will not start properly. You get the Grub screen and some start up stuff, then the screen clears and you get a blinking cursor. I believe this is when it is starting the graphical desktop (gdm3). As I built an application for my company under it, my boss would like to move this to our ESXi server, but I can't seem to move the VM to another product without the blinking cursor issue. Thankfully, I created a snapshot and can restore it back to before the tools were installed. Any suggestions? It seems like Parallels left something behind, but I have no idea where to look.
How do you uninstall Parallels Tools? You may look for at systems logs in /var/log/messages, /var/log/Xorg.0.log etc.
