Parallels causes Finder to think it has more available disk than it does

I've found an interesting quirk that I couldn't find mentioned elsewhere...

From a cold boot, Finder reports that I have close to 300GB available disk, but as soon as I launch Paralells (without starting any VM) my available disk is reporting close to an extra 150GB

While I'd love to think Parallels is magically growing my physical drive, I suspect there is something going on with virtual memory / page files.. Though if that were the case I'd expect the reverse situation to be true (eg: more disk available when parallels is not running)

I did recently perform some cleanup of snapshots, though I don't know if this issue was present before then or since.
Any guidance on what is happening here? Disk utility reports my disk usage correctly

Thank you Trishna. I have come back to you on the support case.
Curiously I am no longer able to repro the issue
